Speaking of Bike Lanes...

A rogue bike lane recently appeared in Dallas, defining a cycle track to allow bikers to ride against traffic on the one-way street.

Dallas is looking to hire an engineer with bicycle planning and design experience. The position has been open for over a year. The 2011 Dallas Bike Plan is being slowly implemented with innovative projects throughout the city. But demand is outpacing the city's capacity to add more lane miles and some residents are taking matters into their own hands.

This recent demonstration was in a neighborhood I know well. Luckily, permanent changes to this road are planned and funded, to begin construction shortly. The Tyler-Polk two-way couplet will soon be two-way streets with a roundabout designed where they currently diverge. Plans now include bike lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
